SSB brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 2nd inning. Aubrey Huff opened up the inning nicely when he reached on an error. Vernon Wells was next and he drew a walk. Ramon Hernandez then lashed a single to load the bases. Pokey Reese was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Aaron Rowand followed, but he was set down on strikes. Frank Thomas continued the rally and slapped a one-base hit driving home two runs. That scoring would be all that was needed. Mike Gonzalez, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 3rd save. The victory went to Tim Hudson(12-5) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs. Joel Pineiro(7-8) ended up with the loss. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.
